Factory Orders Rose 1.3% in February

Factory orders of machinery and equipment rose 1.3% in February, helping to offset the decline in orders seen in January.

New reports show that factory orders 1.3% in February as businesses ordered more machinery and equipment from U.S. factories. This helped to offset the decline in January orders.

Manufacturing activity, according to the trade group of purchasing managers, was up in March, as well. The trade group says its index of manufacturing activity rose to 53.4 in March. Above 50 readings indicate manufacturing expansion, which is a key indicator of economic growth.
