Scania signs large bus deal in Norway

Scania will deliver 114 buses and coaches to public transport operators L/L Setesdal Bilruter and Agder Buss AS. A total of 89 vehicles will be delivered this year and an additional 25 will be put into service during the autumn of 2016. The order is the largest that Scania has ever received for buses and coaches in Norway.

“Scania was selected on the basis of an overall assessment, where price, quality, operations and maintenance were key factors,” says Alf Reidar Birkeland, L/L Setesdal Bilruter’s and Agder Buss’s Project Manager for this procurement. “Scania was competitive on price and quality but it was in operations and maintenance that it scored highest.”

Scania will deliver several bus and coach models, including the Scania Citywide city bus, Scania OmniCity 320 and 340 intercity buses as well as its Scania Higer A30 coach. As part of the deal, Scania will provide repair and maintenance services.

“This order confirms Scania’s ability to offer comprehensive solutions for a broad range of passenger transport needs,” says Klas Dahlberg, Senior Vice President and Head of Buses and Coaches at Scania.

All the new buses and coaches will be fitted out with the Scania Fleet Management, which is an internet-based service for monitoring, analysis and control of the vehicle fleet.

“We are convinced that Scania Fleet Management will help optimise our bus operations and that we will see very positive effects,” concludes Birkeland.
