Design & Engineering Insights: New Webasto Air Cleaners Remove Airborne Pathogens from Vehicle Enclosures

Use of medical-grade HEPA filters makes it possible to capture the majority of airborne particles equal to or greater than 0.3 microns.

Matthew Wheeler, Head of HVAC Light & Medium Duty at Webasto, says the company developed its new HFT 300 and HFT 600 high-efficiency air cleaners for customers looking for a medical-grade filtration system. It features medical-grade HEPA-14 filtration media and is capable of removing 99.995% of airborne particles equal to or greater than 0.3 microns.

A high-velocity, high-quality fan moves a significant volume of air through the HEPA filters. This enables air to be filtered and recirculated in enclosed compartments, such as vehicle and equipment cabs. Doing so helps to prevent the spread of airborne diseases as well as other harmful particulate that may be in the air.
