AGCO Corporation, a worldwide manufacturer and distributor of agricultural equipment and solutions, announces that it has teamed up with Proceedix, a leading software as a service-based central platform, in a strategic alliance for a mobile and wearable smart operator platform. Utilizing wearable Glass technology and software developed in conjunction with Proceedix, AGCO will be better able to manage enterprise procedures, work instructions and inspections in an easy way, while making the remote execution paperless and mobile.
AGCO is one of the first agricultural companies to embrace data-driven solutions to move the industry forward, helping with quality control and other key assembly processes and assembly instructions.
“We have been working closely with Proceedix since 2014 to implement informed reality technology in our operations,” says Peggy Gulick, AGCO Business Process Improvement Director. “Using a wearable device, such as Glass, assisted reality keeps users in their current environment but puts critical information directly in their line of sight.”
AGCO piloted the new assisted reality platform in its Jackson, MN, manufacturing site, where assembly of made-to-order wheeled tractors, articulated tractors and application equipment that can cost as much as $500K.
“We are pleased to work with AGCO in this strategic alliance to help them improve quality, safety and efficiency by using Glass in the assisted reality environment,” says Peter Verstraeten, CEO, Proceedix. “The future of manufacturing is being directed by these kinds of technological innovations, and our software is proudly playing a key role in putting AGCO on the leading edge.”
Proceedix software can help businesses change the way operators execute work instructions and procedures: anytime, anywhere, on Android or iOS phones and tablets, Windows PC, Glass or Iristick smart safety glasses.
Two additional pilots are now in progress at AGCO plants in Illinois and Kansas, while four more pilots are being planned in other AGCO facilities in Brazil, Italy, Illinois and Kansas.
