Hitachi Construction Machinery Co. Ltd. has invested $3 million in Rithmik Solutions Ltd., a Canada-based artificial intelligence company specializing in data analytics for mining equipment. The partnership is designed to help mine sites transform complex equipment data into actionable insights to improve fleet performance and prevent machine failures.
The integration of Rithmik's AI technology is expected to enhance Hitachi Construction Machinery’s LANDCROS Connect Insight platform. While the platform currently provides real-time data analysis and remote monitoring, the addition of advanced AI will allow for root cause identification and proactive maintenance suggestions to enable more precise asset health management.
“Rithmik Solutions’ technology is among the most advanced globally,” said Simon Wilson, COO of Hitachi Construction Machinery Americas. “Their approach to building an open platform for collaboration with diverse partners aligns perfectly with our vision as we move towards the future. We remain committed to delivering solutions that truly address our customers’ challenges.”
The investment follows demonstration testing conducted at a mine site between August 2024 and July 2025. During the trial, operational data from 40 dump trucks and six ultra-large hydraulic excavators were analyzed to confirm the accuracy of early-detected anomalies. Hitachi expects the data-driven approach to resolve abnormalities before they lead to downtime, increasing productivity and lowering total lifecycle costs for mining operations.
The collaboration is part of a broader strategic shift for the manufacturer. Hitachi Construction Machinery previously announced it will change its brand name to LANDCROS in April 2027. The company stated that while manufacturing, engineering and business processes will remain the same, the new brand will focus on providing solutions beyond traditional machinery.
The partnership with Rithmik Solutions represents the "Open collaboration" element of the upcoming LANDCROS identity. By working with AI analytics experts, the company aims to accelerate the adoption of evolving technologies to support the needs of customers in the mining industry.
