Two Chinese Cities Have Become Hub of China's Construction Machinery Industry

As China continues to increase its urbanization efforts, the cities of Changsha and Xuzhou have become the country's hub for construction machinery production.

The cities of Changsha and Xuzhou in China have both seen a rapid increase in production of construction machinery as of late. This market accounts for 30% of each city's GDP. Caterpillar president Richard Lavin says the increase in machinery production is partially due to China's continuous efforts to urbanize itself.

Caterpillar has been part of the production increase, investing $100 million to expand its facility in Xuzhou. The company anticipates increasing hydraulic excavator production there by 80% in 2016.

Meanwhile, Changsha is home to 30 construction equipment manufacturers, including Sany and Zoomlion.
