Class 5-8 Truck Orders 4% Higher in 2015

Orders for Class 5-8 trucks ended on a positive note in 2015 with a 4% increase over 2014.

According to the most recent State of the Industry report from ACT Research Co., Class 5-8 orders ended 2015 on a positive note with a 4% order increase compared to 2014. Net orders for Class 8 vehicles reached 28,150 in December and Class 5-7 reached 22,450.

The Class 8 sleeper tractor segment saw its best production and sales year ever in 2015. Class 5 vehicles also had a record year in 2015.

ACT notes, however, that 2016 will most likely not see as high of order activity due to excess freight hauling capacity and slowing freight growth.
