- Typical steering wheels are comprised of die-cast magnesium or aluminum overmolded with flexible urethane foam; leaving no space for integration of electronic components
- Resin avoids environmental drawbacks of existing steering wheels; traditional materials can be difficult to recycle, involve potentially hazardous waste products from casting
- In two-piece design, space created by hollow rim and spokes enables integration of damping and sensing technology, switch housings, other functionality inside wheel
