Honeywell introduces its 6DF Series Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), 6-D Motion Variant, designed to provide motion, position and navigational sensing from a durable single device over six degrees of freedom.
- Six degrees of freedom achieved using MEMS (microelectromechanical system) technology
- MEMS senses translational movement in three perpendicular axes (surge, heave, sway) and rotational movement about three perpendicular axes (roll, pitch, yaw)
- Measures motion of the equipment onto which it is attached and delivers the data to the equipment’s control module using a CAN SAE J1939 communications protocol
- Allows equipment operator to focus on other functions, enabling more precise control than can be achieved by using only the human eye, thus increasing safety, stability and productivity
- Aluminum packaging, sealing, corrosion-resistance and chemical compatibility provide durability from harsh environments
- Ensures accuracy through durable packaging, stability, temperature compensation, software filtering and design, and Six Sigma testing requirements
- Housing features IP67 and 69k ratings
- EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) and EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) ratings protect the device from environmental radio frequencies
- Wide voltage range (7 to 32V) minimizes need for a voltage converter
- Deutsch connector simplifies customer’s supply chain and reduces design complexity
- Chemical compatibility minimizes OEM having to expose the device to substances
