The Perkins 400 Series is a compact range of engines which includes the 404F-22, a four cylinder, 2.2 liter, naturally-aspirated engine.

  • Meets EU Stage IIIB/U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final regulations 
  • Features compact design
  • Produces 36.4 kW (48.8 hp) at 3,000 rpm and 143 Nm of torque at 1,800 rpm
  • Includes 95% carryover of components from the previous Stage IIIA/Tier 4 Interim engine
  • Only addition is the aftertreatment which has been designed to be as compact as possible, with flexible mounting arrangements to ease installation
  • Delivers improvements in fuel consumption and heat rejection, giving improved ambient clearance
  • Features improved transient response

In engines of similar or same displacement, the main factors that contribute to an increase in specific power are: utilization of more complex-structure turbochargers, such as variable-geometry or dual-stage; an increase in peak cylinder pressure and the use of an SCR-only aftertreatment system without any recycling of exhaust gas in cylinder, especially in engines with a displacement higher than four liters.
