Five U.S. National Parks Implementing Use of Fuel Efficient and Alternative Fuel Vehicles

The Department of Energy and National Park Service announce that five U.S. national parks will begin using fuel efficient and alternative fuel vehicles.

The U.S. Department of Energy and the National Park Service announce that through the Clean Cities Partnership five national parks will begin using fuel efficient and alternative fuel vehicles.

Using the alternatively fueled vehicles will help save $250,000 a year in fuel costs, which is equivalent to 16,000 galons of gasoline and 83 tons of greenhouse gases. Along with helping the parks improve their environmental citizenship, the use of these vehicles will also help demonstrate the advanced technologies that are currently available.

The five parks participating in the project include:

  • Shenandoah National Park, Virginia
  • Blue Ridge Parkway, Virginia
  • San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, Texas
  • Golden Gate National Recreation Area, California
  • Mesa Verde National Park, Colorado
