Researchers at Ben-Gurion University (BGU) of the Negev in Israel have created a process which will convert carbon dioxide and hydrogen into a renewable alternative fuel. The researchers believe the fuel could be ready for use within the next 5 to 10 years.
Through the use of nanomaterials, the researchers have been able to significantly reduce how much energy is needed during the catalytic process to make crude oil. The fuel can be refined using existing technologies as well as transported using existing infrastructure and fueling stations.
