New Holland Agriculture has partnered with E. & J. Gallo Winery for a pilot project testing its NHDrive autonomous tractor technology.
The system is being applied to a T4.110F vineyard tractor.
The goal of the project is to gather agronomic and operator feedback on use of the autonomous technology in everyday vineyard activities.
New Holland's NHDrive autonomous tractor is an unmanned vehicle that is fully autonomous, and can be monitored and controlled via a desktop computer or portable tablet interface.
Unlike some autonomous concept tractors, the NHDrive includes an operator cab to give customers the option of traditional or autonomous operation.
Since first introducing its autonomous concept in 2016, the company has been applying it to various models in its lineup to demonstrate the technology's scalability.
