Eaton discontinues Hydraulic Launch Assist system

Eaton discontinues availability of its parallel hybrid system Hydraulic Launch Assist due in part to the increased investments by companies in natural gas technologies.

Eaton has discontinued its parallel hydraulic hybrid system Hydraulic Launch Assist (HLA), which was initially introduced into the refuse truck market.

HLA was said to offer energy recovery capabilities of 70 to 80% for fuel savings of 4 to 5 gallons per day. However, it is reported that Eaton has shifted its interest in hybrid technology as natural gas has become a larger area of interest in markets such as refuse.

With Eaton withdrawing its hybrid system from the market, the Parker Hannifin RunWise Series hybrid system will be the main option available for the refuse truck market, as well as other similar markets.
