AMETEK STC, a world-leading manufacturer of factory automation equipment, created a new video to explain how the technology and design behind its Gemco Linear Displacement Transducers (LDT) is suitable for many rugged applications.

Position monitoring of hydraulic cylinders can have extreme demands on the electronics inside of the linear displacement transducer. Gemco LDTs have unique features and construction that allow them to survive in the most rugged applications. The Gemco Rod Style LDTs are rated to withstand 1,000G of shock and 30G of random vibration.

Gemco’s Rod Style LDTs can be placed in a hydraulic cylinder without removing the cylinder from the vehicle or machine. This saves hours or even days of downtime. Due to the Automatic Gain Control (AGC) feature, a Gemco LDT can be installed with a new magnet or by reusing a previously installed magnet. Even when reusing the old magnet, the Gemco LDT will deliver very accurate measurements with programmable zero point and span.

Gemco LDTs’ accuracy, combined with the mounting options and rod lengths ranging from 2-300 in. makes installation in new or older equipment fast and simple.
