Since the 2008 bubble bust, words such as unemployment and bankruptcy have been on the minds and mouths of the media, but are all industries still suffering? James (JB) Brown, President of Bremen Castings Inc. one of the leading foundry’s in the country, says that the doom and gloom days of the recession are long over.
“Looking at the numbers our business has been posting each quarter, we were out of the recession over a year and a half ago,” says Brown. “In fact, the last two years we’ve experienced record numbers.”
In an industry that has strong traditional roots, Bremen Castings has been a company on the upswing since its inception nearly 70 years ago. The products produced by the foundry are made from 90% recycled materials and the facility boasts state-of-the-art technology. Staying up-to-date and providing cutting edge service are huge contributors to the business’ success adds Brown.
“New factories are no longer being built; the last private matchplate foundry was built over 20 years ago,” says Brown. “But the foundry business isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. As long as people are using heavy equipment that requires an engine or motor, they’ll need a factory to make the parts that go under the hood.”
