POET Responds to EPA's Denial to Waive Renewable Fuel Standard

POET reacts to EPA's decision to deny requests to waive the Renewable Fuel Standard, which has helped increase investment in renewable fuels.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently announced that it has denied requests to waive the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS).

"The EPA made a sound decision in denying a waiver of the RFS. As studies have shown, a waiver would have likely had little to no impact on commodities prices in the aftermath of the recent drought. This effort was nothing more than the latest attempt by renewable fuel opponents to undermine policy that has helped make America stronger," says Jeff Lautt, POET CEO.

America's RFS has spurred billions of dollars of investment in new technology for advanced and conventional renewable fuel. It has strengthened America's rural economies and communities by more than 400,000 jobs, and helped save $50 billion on imported fuel costs. The proof that the RFS works is all around us.

POET thanks the EPA for its continued support of the RFS as an integral part of America's renewable fuel future.
