Nearly every component manufacturing team at CONEXPO-CON/AGG (CONEXPO) discussed ways that their technology can help end users with operations after the sell. Including aftermarket services and connectivity will allow end users to manage their fleets, optimize maintenance intervals and provide data to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and their dealers. A few examples are provided in this article.
Aftermarket & Remanufacturing
The new C13D engine platform from Caterpillar will be equipped with Cat Digital Services, an integrated suite of software and hardware solutions. This connectivity supplies insight for equipment owners to make decisions on the fly, secure the health of their equipment and minimize nonproductive time.
Caterpillar also offers aftermarket services and remanufactured engines. The aftermarket services benefit OEMs because they offer service through the Caterpillar dealer network or through partnerships with the OEMs’ dealer network. Caterpillar’s Service Replacement Engine provides reduced costs and downtime. The engines are a drop-in solution for end users. What’s more, Caterpillar’s extended service coverage also helps reduce out-of-pocket expenses.
Caterpillar announced several new apps to help original equipment manufacturers and end users improve user experience, extend uptime and simplify parts and service requests. These apps are:
- The Cat Central App, which helps with parts and support wherever the end user is
- SIS2GO puts maintenance, troubleshooting and repair information in the hands of Caterpillar equipment owners
- VISIONLINK that helps with fleet and equipment management
New App for Hose Fabricators
The C-IQ mobile app—Continental’s new app for hose fabricators will provide crimp specs in a customer’s pocket, a huge step in digitizing Continental’s solutions. C-IQ is a digital toolbox that helps improve hose assembly—providing crimp specifications, helping identify the fitting threads and providing information on the hoses and fittings.
AppINTELLilight is an intelligent lighting system designed to allow the operator to control the lighting from an app on a smartphone. It is designed to reduce operator fatigue and help improve worksite safety. The lighting system was launched in the U.S. market during CONEXPO.
Real-Time Thermal Management
During CONEXPO, Eberspaecher exhibited its Xellstor energy management systems. Developed for managing power supplies, it helps monitor battery status. Using the Eberspaecher e-connected app, individuals can monitor the battery in real time. This feature supports the demands of fleet management and operational readiness. Designed for situations when electricity is needed for mobile applications or when environmental regulations prohibit fuel-operated power generators, the Xellstor portfolio offers solutions for an autonomous power supply.
Digital Solutions & Apps
Hatz Diesel has a new smartphone app and smart panel that provides engine data for owners and operators, providing information for maintenance in their hands. They also shared full digital solutions that include:
- Vehicle performance tracking
- Maintenance planning
- Error codes
- IoT dashboard
